High-tech Vertical Farming

Robotic Plant Factories

At Harabakken, we are establishing high-tech plant factories for large-scale indoor plant production in controlled environments, based on vertical growth stations with adjustable LED lights, machine learning, and robot technology, as well as automated infrastructure for climate, water, and nutrient supplementation – a concept known as vertical farming. These factories enable differentiated cultivation, allowing for parallel production of various plant types within the same building.

The factories are developed and operated in collaboration with 4.farm AS in Gjøvik, which, in turn, collaborates with Avisomo AS, a company that has been developing growth stations for vertical farming since 2018. Visit https://www.4.farm/ and https://www.avisomo.no/ for more information.

Collaboration with Local Gardeners and Farmers

The operation and plant production in the factories will be carried out in collaboration with local gardeners and farmers.

Research and Innovation

In addition to commercial food production, we will also facilitate rental spaces and establish partnerships with innovation and research environments to conduct research activities in controlled environments. The goal is to increase Norwegian food production, improve the quality of food products, and generate new information about plant types suitable for food production in Norway.
